wx/net (weather net) is a free open-source networking application for the monitoring of weather conditions. wx/net is a client/server application written in Perl for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. wx/net interfaces with digital weather instruments via an RS-232 serial interface. In addition to weather instruments, support is also included for lightning detection through a second serial port. See the list of supported weather instruments for currently available drivers.

The full documentation for wx/net is available online. wx/net was designed and written by Rob Pinelli and is distributed as free open-source software. It may be freely copied and distributed provided the copyright and acknowledgment texts are kept intact. This program is written in Perl and requires Perl 5.002 or higher and Perl/Tk 402 or higher. Perl/Tk may be obtained through the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network (CPAN) at http://www.perl.com/CPAN. It was tested mainly on an Intel Pentium II processor running at 266 MHz, using Red Hat Linux 5.0 and Xi Graphics' Accelerated-X 4.1 display server. This program is distributed "as is" and no assurance is made concerning its functionality or compatibility on any platform. wx/net is intended for use on most if not all Unix platforms. However, it is a new product and comprehensive platform compatibility checks could not be performed on it. Therefore, users of this program on any platform are encouraged to report any bugs or compatibility problems they encounter to randd@adelphia.net. The author will attempt to fix the issues as soon as possible.
